Fortnight 66

Sunday

It's officially winter!!

The clocks went back last night for the end of BST (British Summer Time) and we all got an extra hours sleep, which is most important for us cats. Cats can never sleep too much! I usually get my tea at 7pm, but by 6pm I was screaming at mum for my tea. You may be able to reprogram a clock or video, but it's not so easy to reprogram my stomach. She made me wait though, how cruel is that??

I was watching the pigeons on the bird table today and I made a slight mistake. I often crouch so that they can't see me and watch them like that. It was so close to the window that I got carried away. There I was in the crouch and launch position, and I forgot the window was there. I launched for the chase and bounced off the window. As I sat there shaking the stars from my vision, I realised that not even cats can jump through plates of glass. I must remember that for the future.

In the evenings for the last few weeks there have been loads of bangs and lights in the sky. It must be bonfire time again. I hate this time of year, the bangs wake me up and disturb my sleep and that's never a good thing.

Monday

It was raining today and I spent the day watching the birds in the garden from the comfort of my bed. What a luxury! Even the squirrel doesn't like the rain, it was only out of it's tree for a short time. Just enough to scoff the nuts mum had left on the patio for it. Greedy little git! Sat there in front of the doors swinging it's tail at me. I'm sure it was goading me, but after yesterdays window episode I didn't rise to the bait and let him sit there and annoy me, without trying to chase it.

I did manage to escape today through the office window but I wish that I hadn't. I won't be going out for a while again, that's for sure. I went onto the cricket pitch for a look around, there are loads of mice and birds there and I love going for a wander. There is a big bonfire there which was built over the weekend and 3 teenagers decided that they didn't want to wait for bonfire night and lit the fire this afternoon. They were still there admiring the fire when I sauntered onto the field… I immediately heard "Grab that cat and chuck him on the fire"… boy did I run fast. I heard mum shouting at the boys from our garden, which meant that the door must be open so I ran as fast as my 4 legs can carry me to the safety of my room. It gave me quite a fright and I wont be going anywhere near there again for a while.

I'm still struggling to reprogram my stomach clock, it takes time getting used to stupid things such as daylight savings time. Whoever thought that stupid idea up, didn't think of us poor animals waiting for our tea!

Wednesday

Mum was out most of the day today and I was home alone. I played with fishy and the cat charmer in the front room for ages and then carefully left them laid out full stretch in front of the door. Mum came in with a friend and loads of bags of shopping and tripped over my carefully laid trap. I don't think that either of them were very happy with me! Mum's friend stayed for a while and played with me.

I also showed mum's friend my newest trick. Jump on the units in the kitchen, sit there until they get near you and then jump onto the fridge and onto the top of the higher cupboards. I sat there watching them trying to get me down, what a laugh. Well, it was a laugh until mum's friend picked up the mop and aimed it straight for me… I jumped down pretty quickly I can tell you! There is no way she was getting me with a wet mop head.

Thursday

Another quiet day. Mum spent the entire day on the PC and I didn't even get my customary hours playtime. Late afternoon, I jumped in front of the computer screen and sat there shouting in her face that I was still here and I wanted to play. I even dropped fishy into her lap but she continued to type around me. That's not an easy task, I'm quite wide when I want to be! I gave up and burrowed into the duvet on their bed and went to sleep.

They went out tonight, they never go out at night. They even had the nerve to lock me in my room with some biscuits … the biscuits were soon gone and so were they, and I was sat there in the dark wondering how to fill the night. They came back about 11pm and I was in a very playful mood. We played with the cat charmer until midnight and then we all went to bed. More time in the dark room, I must do something about this… but they trick me.. they put biscuits in my bowl as they know it will make me run into the room, and then they shut the door behind me… did you know that they had took the word gullible out of the dictionary? No, nor did I !! I must learn not to be so gullible in future!

Friday

Mum's is on that dratted PC again…. What does she do on that thing for so long. I know she is doing the typing for my website, but diary entries don't take long to type from my dictation… what is she doing, has she forgot about me???

I take it back, I got a good play session this lunch time. So I have forgiven mum for being on the computer for so long.

Saturday

I was playing in the garden this morning while mum was filling the bird feeder. There is a mouse that's been living in one of the flowerbeds since the summer. Henry and I often try to catch it, but it always evades us, well not today! I found him in the long grass and got him out on the grass to play. He was hiding under a big leaf, where he thought I couldn't see him. Even mum saw him from inside. She came out, picked me up and locked me inside and then caught the mouse and moved him to a safe area out of the garden. She did me out of another meal. I will have to teach her a lesson for this.

Sunday

As usual my litter tray was taken outside and washed out, this happens every Sunday, but today I decided to see what it looked like empty. It was propped up against the wall so it would dry and I managed to squeeze underneath and sit there, under the tray. What a weird experience! Now I have sat in my litter tray (on a daily basis) and under it as well.. that's something you don't do everyday!

Monday

A boring day today. Spent the day asleep on the spare bed in the warmth, out of the rain. I hate the winter! There are loads of fireworks going off all day and worse in the evenings. I like to sit as close as I can to mum when they bang as some of them frighten me. I feel safe being cuddled when they go off, if mum doesn't jump then I know there is nothing to be scared of!

Wednesday

Bonfire Night (UK)

There were loads of fireworks going off tonight. Mum and dad sat in the back bedroom and watched the bonfire and firework display on the cricket pitch. I sat on the windowsill for a while and watched the bonfire, but when the fireworks started, I hid in the landing. There are no windows there and I know I am safe!

Watching the fire from the window      Asleep under the CD collection, in a safe place

After the firework display I fell asleep in the lounge by the CD collection. I lie there a lot as it by the side of the radiator, so it's warm and no-one can get in easily as I take all the space so I won't be disturbed!

Thursday

I jumped out of the office window today and was playing with the rocket holder that had landed on our garage roof last night. I was enjoying myself until it fell off the roof and left me with nothing to play with! Then I jumped back in the window and went round to the back bedroom and watched the squirrel eating the nuts in the garden. What a thrilling day!
