Fortnight

A
different type of diary format this time. I have been
really busy and have not had the time to write lately,
so here is a short version of what I have been doing for
the past month.
Mum has not been too well and I have been looking after
her while dad is at work and entertaining them both in
the evenings. Mum has spent a lot of time on the sofa
lately and I have spent most of the time on her lap giving
her love and cuddles and dead legs! It's also a good place
to have a comfy and frequent naps. When I am bored of
sleeping I present her with toys to amuse me with - well,
she has to pay for my love and attention now she's not
the one feeding me (don't worry - dad's been feeding me,
I have not been starving!). Time and attention from a
cat is not free unless you are the hand that feeds me!
I have been playing mainly with my fishy and squidgy ball.
It has to be quality play time as well, not half-hearted
play or I go and sleep on a radiator somewhere else in
the house! By half hearted play, I mean bad throws of
the ball, or, throwing fishy rather than dangling it for
me to attack. Mum is a terrible throw and her ball throwing
skills need much practise, which I am trying to give her,
but she is making very slow progress. These humans are
just not made for full-on cat playtime and attention grabbers!
I was quite scared of the wheelchair at first until I
realised it wouldn't bite me, but it may run over my paws
and tail and quite frequently knocks over my water bowl!
Once I learnt that I knew to stay in front or to the side
and then my paws and tail are quite safe. Never miaow
from behind the wheelchair though, or you get hit in the
whiskers and that's definitely not good! I have found
out that the seat of the wheelchair feels excellent to
lick. I found out quite by accident, I was sat on the
seat having a nightly wash, whilst washing my leg I accidently
half licked the seat at the same time. It felt nice on
my barbed tongue. Within minutes I had given up on the
wash and just sat there licking the seat. Mum and dad
were both watching me with interest and I didn't care,
it felt so nice. I soon stopped though as it makes you
rather thirsty and I was desperate for a drink - good
job she always fills up my water bowl after she knocks
it over!
I have also learnt how to open doors in the last few weeks.
I used to try and jump at the frame but it never worked,
and the door never opened for me. I even tried to miaow
at the door with a feline version of "Open
Sesame" but that never got the door to open
either. After watching the humans I now know you have
to hit the handle thing to open a door. I have been practising
on the French doors as they are not too heavy and normally
unlocked. If you jump quite high and give the handle a
good whack with your 2 front paws, the handle will go
down and the door will open. However, this will only work
if the door is unlocked first. Otherwise you can spend
ages jumping at the handle and it will never move an inch.
I know this, because I have spent ages doing it when the
door is locked - what a waste of energy.
I
haven't been out at all much lately, I have been staying
with mum. I have spent ages watching all the birds on
the bird table. There are some greedy hungry birds out
there. The little birds go to the feeder and 2 birds perch
on the feeder rests and other birds dive bomb them to
get them off so they can get on the feeder and get free
food. They are rude to each other and need teaching manners
by me, the neighbourhood kind kitty! Some big fat pigeons
sit on the bird table, attacking the other birds that
try to land there. They get some nice food though, better
than my cat food. Maybe I should try get on the bird table,
I quite like scones and French bread, I'm not too keen
on bird seed though, so will have to pick the time carefully
so there is nice food on there! These rude birds are better
fed than me.
Winter is coming and the bad weather is starting to draw
in. The last few days have been really windy and rainy.
The purrrrrrrrrfect day to sit inside and
watch the bad weather from the warmth of the radiator,
or a warm lap. I may even be tempted to go into hibernation
- you never know!
