Fortnight 57

Monday

I knew it. Mum managed to trap me in the cat carrier, and they both took me to the vets this afternoon. Dad held me in a neck-hold (he held me tightly with his arm around my neck and my bottom facing the vet across the table) whilst the vet stuck that dratted thermometer up my bottom again. I so hate this part of it. Then he cut the fur on my tail to show a large abscess. He gave me some anti-biotics and some painkiller in a syringe. He gave mum some syringes to take home and more tablets, I hate this vet guy.

Tuesday

Ugh! I was rudely awoken by mum this morning, trying to shove a large tablet down my throat, followed by a syringe of painkiller. I spat out the tablet and it stuck on my chest. I thought I had got away with not taking it, but she shoved it down my throat again…. Fur and all…. I was not impressed.

Spent the day playing with fishy and resting after the rude awakening.

Thursday

Still getting the awful tablets and painkiller each morning. I make it difficult for her every day, in the hope that the next day she will give up and not try to give me the tablets, but my plan is failing. My tail is getting better though and it's not hurting me so much any more. I escaped this morning and spent the entire day outside in the sun.

Friday

I got my own back today for all the tablets. The painkiller has stopped but the tablets keep coming.

Mum had a visitor this afternoon and I thought it was a perfect time to bring her a gift of a dead bird. Neither mum, nor her guest were impressed with me and she called me a murderer. I'm not having that. Her guest was so upset that she left. To prove to her that I am no murderer, 10 minutes later I brought her a live mouse. I dropped it on her foot, and it ran under the sofa. I ran outside to watch from a safe distance. She pulled out the sofa, and all the papers from under the table. I was quite impressed with her performance, within 30 minutes the mouse was rescued and put back alive and unhurt in the field. She put all the furniture back and rang dad to tell him of my antics.

Just to prove to dad that mum was being truthful, I had to show him that I can bring mice in without harming them. At 6:30 just before their tea was ready and about an hour before their guests were arriving, I brought them in another live mouse. This time they didn't catch it so fast. Both sofas were in the middle of the room. All the other papers and stuff from the lounge were also in the middle of the room…. They cancelled their guests and missed their tea - and the best part - well…. The best part is that they didn't catch it!

They gave me the run of the house overnight, but I spent the night asleep on their bed, rather than trying to find the mouse, that's their part of the game….

Saturday

It was a lovely day today and mum and dad spent the day in the garden. They tried to keep me locked in the house on the mouse hunt, but as I explained yesterday, that's their job. The game is, I bring it in and they find it… they can swing if they think I'm going to find it for them. I joined them in the garden for a sunbathe.

Sunday

Another nice day and they gave up making me try to catch the mouse. I think they are hoping that it will find its own way out of the house… no chance! Spent the day sat in the shady parts of the garden watching flies and birds.

Monday

Mum has been in the garden most of the day. She went inside for a brief period this afternoon and I thought it a good time for the next round of the game. As usual, I waited for her to be on the telephone before I brought in another mouse. She was onto me though, as I walked through the French doors, she shouted at me… in fright; I dropped the mouse in the dining room (my bedroom) and ran outside. The mouse after running around the dining table a few times settled on my pillow… cheeky thing. Mum grabbed the pillow and managed to get the mouse out safely…a boring round of the game. Then I heard her on the phone to dad trying to work out how to stop me playing this game. They are not impressed. At least my pillow smelt nice tonight, I dreamt of mice - must have been the scent that brought on the dream.

Wednesday

Not such a nice day today. I sat in the bedroom window and watched the rain. When I got bored I fell asleep on the big bed. Had my last tablet today for my tail, so that must mean that it's getting better.

Thursday

I nearly found myself a new home today. There were some workmen at our house and I managed to escape as they left the front door open. I curled up on a soft area of their van. They didn't realise I was there until they pulled something out of the van and I ran out as well. Mum took me back inside and the workmen left.
