Saturday
Mum
bought me a new toy from town today and I spent hours
playing with it tonight. It is called a tail tikkler and
it is a long green fluffy thing with feathers on top attached
to a plastic rod. It is more addictive to play with than
fishy and the cat charmer. I love to jump up for it, when
they hold it in the air and I love to carry it around
the house, as the green stuff is really soft and nice
to cuddle up with. It's like a feather boa, but without
the feathers! Mum and dad took loads of pictures of me
and you can see some of them by clicking
here.
Sunday
It was a quiet day today with not much happening. It was
really warm this morning and when mum washed out my litter
tray in the garden I made a run for it and went to explore
in the field at the back of the house. I heard dad calling
me a while later but ignored him…. Not getting tricked
into being locked in the house for anything! I guess mum
and dad went out for a bit because when it started to
rain really heavily I went to the door to go in the house
and it was shut. No matter how much I miaowed at the door
no-one came to let me in. I am a fair weather cat, I hate
being outside in the rain…. it makes you all wet and I
can't stand having wet fur. I usually only go outside
in the nice weather but today I was caught out! When mum
and dad came back shortly after they found me under the
shelter from the porch waiting to be let in. I curled
up on the sofa and didn't move for the rest of the day….
Not getting caught in the rain again!
Wednesday
Mum and dad were watching a TV documentary on wildlife
today and I was resting in front of the TV. They showed
big bears catching salmon in the river and I was fascinated
by it. I was sat right in front of the TV watching it
for the whole show… I wish I could have eaten the big
salmon that the bear caught, it looked very tasty.

Friday
Mum was very sore today and she sat in the front room
all day reading magazines and playing with me. We played
with the Tail Tikkler for ages and it was really cool.
After a while I was quite tired and I climbed onto her
lap and fell asleep whilst having my head and ears stroked.
You can't get much better than that. I haven't sat on
mum's knee for ages, not really since I became an indoor
cat. I had forgotten how nice it is.
Saturday
Mum and dad did their regular thing today. Dad's son came
round and he played on the playstation for a while, but
mum and dad did something really strange. They pulled
the carpet off the landing and started lifting floorboards
and drilling the wall. After 3 hours all they had to show
for their effort was a long piece of plastic on the wall
and a lot of mess. They took dad's son home and then they
sat in the garden until late at night. They let me go
out with them and I played on the garden and sat on the
wall watching the mice in the field. A cool night!
Sunday
Mum and dad were working on the landing again today. They
left me watching the TV (I have really got into watching
animal programmes) but soon the TV went blank when they
turned off the electricity. I think they were putting
in a new power socket. I kept trying to investigate (especially
as there was nothing on the TV) but I couldn't get near
the whole in the floor to see what was happening. A strange
man came today and stayed for a while this afternoon.
I haven't seen him for a long time, but he gave me a cuddle
so that was OK.
Monday
Dad has time off work and I thought they would sit on
the sofa and watch TV like they usually do when they are
off, but I was wrong. All the stuff out of my bedroom
(also known as the dining room) was emptied into the lounge.
Very strange, I'm not sure why at this point, I will let
you know more later.
Another quick inspection of my bedroom shows it is now
covered in plastic sheets and I am banished to spend the
day in the rest of the house.
Oh, I see! It's being painted… well, that's it. I MUST
try and help them. The next time the door opened I ran
in and had a look to see if I liked the colour they are
painting my room… it's plain white… a bit boring but I
suppose it will be OK. I dipped my tail in the pot of
emulsion and tried to help but dad washed it off and made
me go back into the other room. Well, if they don't want
my help, I won't offer again!
Tuesday
I got sent outside today whilst they painted the shiny
paint onto the wood. I guess it was because they really
didn't want my help for this bit as I still have a shadow
of white on my tail from yesterday. They let me in at
teatime and I must admit that my room looks quite nice
now. I will let them off for making me sleep in the lounge
and not letting me help!
I
got my own back for not letting me help though. I usually
am locked in my bedroom at night but because of all the
plastic sheets, they can't do that at the minute so I
got the run of the house all night. At 5am I stood on
top of the clock on dad's side of the bed and started
to miaow in his face as I wanted to play. He wasn't very
happy with me! At 6am I stood on mum's pillow and did
the same, but she picked me up and lay me down by her
side and stroked me until I fell asleep. Shortly though
I woke up and started to play "Attack the Toes",
which is where you sink your claws into any toes that
move until the owner of the toes shouts at you. I went
downstairs shortly after to play in the lounge on my own!
Wednesday
My room is now back to normal with all the furniture back
in place and not a plastic sheet to be seen. I am happy
now that everything is back to normal. I don't like change,
especially when it involves MY room!
Thursday
Oh, there are 2 strange men here today and they are working
on the stairs. I wonder what they are doing and how long
they will be here. They came this morning, so they shouldn't
be here too long.
I hid behind the big bush in the front garden all day
until the men had gone. I thought they wouldn't be here
that long but they came about 10am and left at 5:30pm…
that's a long time for any pussycat to hide in a bush!
I was hungry and desperate to use my litter tray by the
time I dared to go back in the house, and, when I came
back in there was a strange looking thing on the stairs.
There was a chair at the bottom, in the place where I
play, and a rail going up the stairs. Not quite sure what
it is for yet.
Friday
What is that??????
I think I know what the thing is for that was fitted yesterday.
I heard this sort of metallic whine and ran in to see
what was happening. I saw mum sat on the chair going up
the stairs. But, she wasn't going up the stairs as her
feet were not moving. The chair was taking her up the
stairs. I sat at the bottom watching with concern, surprise
and quite a bit of fright. What if she fell off, who would
give me my tea?? I'm not sure about this new thing… I
reserve the right to pass judgement just yet.
Saturday
Another hot day today. Dad came back with Nick at lunch
time and they all went off somewhere and came back an
hour later with loads of bags, so I guess they had been
to the supermarket. They never go on a saturday so I wonder
what is happening.
Dad's brother and his girlfriend have arrived and everyone
is sat in the garden talking, apart from me who is hiding
behind a bush out of the way of the large, rather powerful
water pistol. I know they won't squirt me on purpose,
but I don't want to get caught in the crossfire by accident!
Argh! Fire in the garden…
someone put it out. Don't sit around it talking and laughing.
Now, they are putting food on it, what's happening? I
think this is what they call a BBQ. I don't know these
things as living in the UK, I don't see it very often.
When I went to walk over the wall I nearly burnt my feet,
so I have gone inside to sleep on the bed until the fire
has gone.
Sunday
I'm still not sure about the new thing on the stairs.
The noise scares me and I don't like seeing mum on it
as I'm sure she will fall off and I will go hungry. Dad
does feed me, but mum's my provider and I don't like change!
