Fortnight 195Confessions of a Mad CatFortnight197

Fortnight 196

Tuesday

Hi, it’s Tigger here. I am taking over the diary duty from Jack now he is no longer here.

Well, the last few days have been really weird. Monday was odd because it was just Ozzy and I in the house in the evening as they kept Jack in at the vets. We had a quick play, but mainly gave mum lots of cuddles as she looked quite upset.

Today was a really strange day. Mum was on the PC in the morning when the phone rang, I was on the desk helping her out with typing as these humans always need our help. Whilst she was on the phone she started to cry, so I had to give her lots of cuddles, it was a good job I was there to help her out. The rest of the day she was really quiet and reserved and cried a lot. She went out late in the afternoon and came back really upset. She brought back the empty cat carrier which Ozzy kept sniffing, he couldn’t understand where Jack was, and why he was not in the carrier. I had other more important concerns. My food and water bowl had gone from the kitchen and there were only 2 mats and lots of bowls in the dining room. Am I being refused food? I am quite unnerved by this development and let mum know by continuously going into the kitchen and howling at the place where my food bowls used to be.

At tea-time I understood as mum called us both to the dining room and my food was put in one of the 2 bowls in here. No bowl for Jack – I guess that means he isn't coming back.

The mood in the house was quite reserved tonight. I kept going up and giving mum cuddles as she was quite upset. I sat on her knee and kissed her face and neck every now and then so she knew I was there. Then I got distracted and started to eat her necklace, which made her laugh as my whiskers tickled her neck! I'm glad I made her laugh. About 11pm I decided enough grieving had happened – a kitten can't be still and quiet for long and I started running around the house playing with my orange balloon. I had only been playing with it for a few minutes when Ozzy walked up and popped it with his claws. I was quite upset about this, spoiling my game – how dare he? He looked at the balloon in surprise wondering where it had gone. I was not a happy kitten and dragged off the dead balloon skin to give it a lick and make it feel better – it didn't come back as a balloon though and stayed in pieces on the floor. I hope mum makes a new one for me. I love playing with balloons…

Well – that’s it for me for now – felt I had to explain the last few days from my angle. Will be back with more as the days and weeks unfold.. keep reading as my kitten life is full of fun and playtimes so I will make more interesting reading than the old black thing!

Signing out for now – Tigger xx

Wednesday

I made a discovery today, it was totally excellent. I always accompany mum when she goes into the bathroom – you are not allowed privacy in this house!! Well today, I noticed that there is a roll of paper in there and the end was hanging down. As inquisitive kittens do, I pulled the bottom of it, held it in my teeth and ran off with it. I was really surprised to know that it reaches all the way down the stairs and half way across the front room. I had a bit of a chew and shredded some of it on the carpet and then noticed my rattling ball and went off to play with that, leaving the paper trail around the house. Mum was laughing, but she did tell me off for wasting a whole roll of toilet paper! It was worth it for the fun value though!

Mum made me a new toy with a balloon of helium with a feather attached to the bottom of it, so it floated just above the floor. I couldn’t resist this new floating feather toy and spent most of the night playing with it. I just love feathers, I love licking them and trying to eat them, but I never manage to eat it, I just make it really soggy with my spit!!!

Thursday

I spent most of tonight sleeping in my little bed at the side of mum. It’s meant to be a rabbit bed, but it’s the purrrrrrfect size for me and I spend lots of time in there. It’s even better as it’s by mums’ side so I get lots of cuddles. Mum is still quite quiet and upset about Jack, so Ozzy and I are trying to give her lots of cuddles and love so she feels a bit better.

Friday

Mum got out the cat play tunnel tonight and I spent ages in there. It’s the first time I have seen this toy, and I love it. I went to sleep inside as it’s lovely and warm and enclosed. I was happily snoozing away when Ozzy popped his head inside one of the holes and started to lick me. We then started to play in and around the tunnel for the rest of the evening. During the day mum had also put fresh catnip in one of the mouse toys, which Ozzy loves. He goes mad for catnip and rubs his head all over the toy to get the smell on him. It’s quite amusing to watch. I'm not too bothered by catnip, but just love to play with the toys!

Saturday

As Jack said, dad has been away for a while and he came back tonight. We both gave him loads of cuddles as he is also upset about Jack.

Monday

I think that Ozzy has finally realised that Jack is not coming back to the house and he has taken his place keeping dads chair warm. He spent most of tonight snoozing on the chair. I got bored later on, and decided that I would wake him up and jumped on the chair and started to lick his head. He soon moved off the chair and we started to play. We were chasing each other up and down the stairs like nutters. Then we ran around the bedroom chasing each other for ages, I love playing games like this.

Tuesday

Well, it’s been a week since the 3 of us became 2. I think the change in the house has gone OK. It’s not really made much difference to me, apart from my food bowl being moved into the dining room. I still run to the kitchen when I hear the biscuits being lifted up, and then realise I get fed in the dining room and run in there.

Tonight there were loads of bangs outside, which I am not used to. Ozzy didn’t seem too bothered by it and told me that they were fireworks which humans let off around this time of year. Mum kept Ozzy inside tonight until all the bangs had finished, he was desperate to go outside, but she just wouldn’t let him. I don’t think it’s that safe. Fireworks are not cat friendly.

Wednesday

It’s getting really cold now as winter is here. I am spending more time on the windowsill behind the curtains instead of my bed as it’s warmer in the curtains. I haven't worked out yet how to get under both the curtain and the lining, so I spend my time inbetween the curtain and the lining. Ozzy can get under both, but I am still learning how to do this. I'm sure I will get the hang of it eventually. I don’t think I am big enough yet to push both bits out of the way.

Thursday

Tonight I was playing with one of the fur mini-mice. I was throwing it up in the air and catching it. I soon got a bit bored of this game and pulled the tail off the mouse. Before mum got hold of it, (and she was quite fast, but I am faster!) it disappeared into my mouth and I ate it. Mum says I am like a human baby as I eat anything and everything! It wasn’t very tasty, but you have to try these things to know that!

Friday

Mum went out for a few hours this morning and she left a toilet roll on the floor in the bedroom. Well, from my antics last week you know I have discovered a love for toilet roll and I quite often nibble at them when I am in the bedroom with mum. Well, today I had a mood for mischief and I shredded a fair bit of the roll she left on the floor. I left a massive pile of soggy chewed paper in the bedroom and some all over the landing. It was quite tasty, I like Andrex, do you think they would let me be in the advert? Well, when mum came back she wasn’t impressed as she had a fair bit of tidying up to do.. I love to keep her busy!

Monthly Summary

Favourite toy: Oh, this is a hard one, there are so many. I think I will go with my rattling ball.

Favourite place: In the warm between the curtains and the lining.

Favourite pastime: Playing!!!

Least favourite thing: Fireworks.

Well, my first diary entry is done, and I think it went OK… will be back soon with all the antics of Ozzy and I.

Tigger xxxxxx
