Fortnight 162Confessions of a Mad CatFornight 164

Fortnight 163

Saturday

I got a real shock last night. I spent all afternoon asleep on the bed, and when I came downstairs it was clear I had missed a lot. There was a kitten in our house. I was not impressed. I am mum’s favourite. I had missed Alice (a neighbour from the street) coming to the house with the kitten that had been dumped in the local park in a cardboard box. Mum had taken Alice and the kitten to the vets to get him checked out and leave him for rehoming, however as it was discussed that it would be very unlikely for me to infect him with FIV, mum brought him home.

I spent all night in the garden in a real mood. I don’t want to share my house and mums knee with a little kitten!

Today I spent a while in the garden and when I came in the kitten kept jumping on me. I spent a lot of time hissing and growling at him and then went to hide upstairs. I was most upset though, when I saw him going to the toilet in MY litter tray.

Sunday

I spent more time outside today, as I don’t like the kitten. We spent a while hissing and growling at each other. I was doing a low growl to warn him off my space, and he came back at me with this high pitched whine.. it was quite strange!

Monday

I decided that the kitten is not going to stop me from being with mum so I started to come back in the house. We made our first contact by rubbing noses, and I didn't growl at him. I suppose in time I will learn to tolerate him. They have called him Ozzy, so at least he has a name now and not just kitten!

Tuesday

I spent a while sleeping on the bed today and Ozzy is not used to coming upstairs, so I had lots of time to myself. I can see this situation starting to work out. We both get cuddles and playtime so I am not too unhappy.

Tonight mum made a toy for Ozzy out of a Coke box. She had cut holes in it and put a toy inside for him to play with. I love things like that, so I squeezed my head through the hole and managed to get inside the box. It’s ages since I have been in a coke box! I had a quick nap in there, long enough for the box to smell of me, which was what I wanted. Then Ozzy and I rubbed noses and I went for another sleep upstairs.

Amazing, I still fit in a Coke box!

Wednesday

This morning dad let me out and I had my usual cuddle with mum on the bed before she got up. Ozzy was still in his bedroom (the kitchen) so I had my time with mum. I stayed on the bed all day and Ozzy left me alone, which is perfect.

Friday

Today I spent most of the day asleep under the duvet on the spare bed. I had privacy and dark, perfect for a long sleep. Ozzy stayed downstairs and I had a nice quiet day.

Saturday

Today Nick and his friend came to stay for the night. Ozzy and I were inside in the evening. They had Ozzy jumping high chasing my Cat Charmer. It was quiet amusing to watch, at least it wasn’t me being made to play.

Sunday

Ozzy and I rubbed noses and spent a while together in the lounge today. I am getting used to him being in the house now and I don’t mind too much. He still goes to the toilet in my litter tray though, but at least mum cleans it straight away so I don’t have to go with his wee in there.

Tonight Ozzy learnt how to climb curtains and mum and dad were laughing at him. I never did this, where did he learn it from? Then he went in my room and took a bite of the curtain and started to swing around on it. Quite odd!!!

Tuesday

Today a big box was delivered for mum and as usual I claimed it for me. This afternoon mum went to bed as she wasn’t well and both Ozzy and I decided to join her. We all had an afternoon nap on the bed. It was the first time we have slept together and I think mum was happy with the situation.

Tonight I went to sleep in my new box and Ozzy was running around the box trying to work out how to get in. He was tapping the sides and then running off, I didn't mind too much though and didn't even open my eyes, although I wasn’t asleep. After a while, he got bored of trying to get in and went to sleep on the sofa above me. We all had a quiet night sleeping in our respective positions.

Peace at last, me int he box, Ozzy on the sofa

Wednesday

I spent today asleep on the big bed. It was nice and quiet as Ozzy was downstairs.

This evening I was asleep in the new box and Ozzy repeated his antics from last night, trying to get in my box. He soon gave up. Around 10pm I went upstairs and Ozzy ran after me. We had a small disagreement at the top of the stairs. Ozzy rolled on his back, and as I batted him with my paw he rolled over and fell down the gap in the banister. He fell through the banister and landed downstairs behind the TV, on his side. He lay there for a few minutes before getting up looking rather shocked. We were both quite quiet for a while after that. He was hurting, and I knew I had made a bad mistake. I lay down and hid behind the box. After about 15 minutes Ozzy decided to get his own back and he ran at me from the side of the box. I wasn’t expecting it, and I jumped backwards so far that I hit the stereo cabinet, which is 110cm away. In mid-air I changed direction from backwards to forwards and ran into the dining room to hide in safety. I think we are even now.. even if Ozzy seems more sore than me!

Thursday

A quiet day today after the antics of last night. Ozzy seems OK, not hurt and I am OK, just a bit shocked. We kept out of each others way today as we are a bit nervous of each other after last night!

Friday

Ha, ha! Ozzy got carried off to the vets this afternoon and he was bleeding when he came home from where they had put his microchip. I overheard mum and dad talking and it’s not fair, Ozzy has a microchip with a thermal thing in it so it can be scanned and tell his temperature, where as I have to have a thermometer shoved up my bottom. He will never have to go through the pain of this, and I have to do it every time I go to the vets…. It’s so not fair!
