My (not better) half asked me a question tonight that I couldn't answer so I am hoping you lot can help.......

This year we have a leap year - 29 not 28 days in the month of February - easy so far

We both get paid monthly, 12 equal payments each year

......... should or will we get paid for the extra day? or will our company gain an extra days work from us all??????

That's a great question manor but I will be of no help with an answer. I would defiately be maing enquiries into that.

Easy answer that one... NO

Seriously though, it would depend how you get remunerated...

If you get paid a monthly salary, you will not get paid just because there are more days in February this year...in fact, if that were the case, your employer could argue that because February has less days than all the other months anyway, you should get paid less in February than any other month...

However, if you do get paid by the hour (like I used to when I was contracting) then yes, you should definitely get paid for the extra time.

My partner stated today, "tomorrow's the 29th you're allowed to ask me to marry you if you like."

Does this mean he wants me to ask him?

I asked this question to a friend a few days ago and didn't get an answer. I don't think we will get the extra days pay. I don't find my Febuary pay is any less than other months when it's only 28 days, so I doubt an extra day will make a difference.

I think the 29th should be a public holiday for all. We get this extra day only once every 4 years and we're made to work??? I Think it should be a day to relax for everyone.
