Do you know I have pondered that myself
I also think that the majority of these products arent worth the money as the payback period is far too long. I just think that the government is jumping on the Green bandwagon. I do think green energy is a good idea, I just dont agree with the way its miss sold. I actually think that nuclear power is currently the way to go. Mike... |

Nuclear is definatly a power source we have to keep in the options but after that melt down in Russia some years ago & the lose of life & the deformities
So I think we have to be aware of the dangers & long term effects. Just as an after thought Energy Saving Light Bulbs we are encouraged to buy them as they last longer & use less power so when we all have these fitted as standard in our houses what is going to happen to a large part of the work force in this industry as they possiblly wont be needed to make the other kind . |

Just a quick word on the low energy bulbs - have just had to change one, after 13 years! Admittedly it was the one at the top of the stairs, so not extremely heavy use, but I think that's quite impressive.

We had a low energy light fitting in our bathroom... The light used to get left on nearly 24 hours a day, and the "bulb" lasted about a year...
I couldn't stand the insipid light it gave off tho, so changed the fitting to a couple of spots... I know, not very green of me

Yeah the light isnt typically white or bright is it, they are normally a weird cream/yellow dull light. Not good in the bathroom when you are trying to shave.
The dont get to full brightness very quick either, no good for stairs and landings! They can save you cash though Mike... |
