I must admit to having an interest for philosophy, I even like some poetry or prose as I prefer to call them.
I even use some of these verses to guide me through life's ups and downs Here is one of my favourites: 'The Moving Finger Writes; and, Having Writ'So whether it be from a movie, a song or a nursery rhyme, do you have any favourite sayings or verses? Let us know what they are, and what they mean to you Mike... |

My favourite saying has always been:
"It is better to be silent and be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt". In my youth I was always quick to speak and slow to listen, which usually meant I didn't hear important things until it was too late. I am a big philosophy fan too Mike. My favourite philosopher is Michel De Montaigne (apologies if this spelling is wrong). He writes about the absurdity of the human body. Great stuff.

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

"What you are is what you have been, and what you will be is what you do now"
i find guidance through this quote, it reminds me of the hard times and reminds me of my strength. this is another quote that helps me "Did you know that you are surrounded by eternity? But did you really know you have the power to use it?" but what we all live by is one quote "SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND!" see the wisdom and you will find it "the wise one takes the advice, but does not give any" |

How about the line from the old Stones Song:
"You can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes you just might find, you get what you need".... Or from Pink Floyd: The Final Cut "I was just a boy then, now I'm only a man" and Time "You run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, racing around to come up behind you again" Or the all time classic - "Luke, I am your Father" LMAO

Clint Eastwood has a plethora of good quotes.
From Heartbreak Ridge: "The army's looking for a few good men. Unfortunately, you aint it". "Just because we're holding hands doesn't mean we're gonna be taking warm showers 'till the wee hours of the morning" From Dirty Harry: "When a naked man is chasing a woman down a back alley with a butchers knife and a hard-on, I figure he aint collecting for the Red Cross". Not CLint, but also one of my favourites from Hellraiser (Pinhead): "No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering"
