Childhood Memory: Smells
Many people find that a certain sound or smell brings back a childhood memory very strongly (such as the smell of a food that your mother often cooked when you were young).
Why do you think this is? What has this effect on you? Can you give examples. | ||||||||

Cabbage! Takes me right back to junior school - whatever we were having at lunchtime, the corridors always smelt of cabbage.

Everytime I smell a chlorine type smell I think of my chilhood. I used to go swimming at least once a week for years with my Grandad (Who was a cool Grandad).

How can anyone hate rhubarb! Wonderful stuff - I remember eating it raw, dipping it into the sugar bowl between bites - yummy!

My dad used to smoke a pipe & I can always remember climing onto his lap for a hug & smelling the tabacco in his cloths
