Default Saddam Death Penalty

As you will probabley be aware Saddam has been given the death penalty.

Do you think its right that some countries have applauded the decision :?:

I myself think its wrong that some of the world leaders have applauded the decision to end a human life, what ever the reason the taking of a life shouldnt be celebrated.

Do I agree with the death penalty :-k No, I do not.

Where do you stand with the decision :?:

Normally I do not agree with the death penalty, but in this instance I think it is a good idea.

Make him an example for all the attrocious acts he has ordered others to do or committed himself. The czech leader that was in jail committed suicide before he was sentenced, so he didn't get to be made an example, so they should do it to Saddam.

I think in the next 2 months whilst it goes to all the committees it will be overturned anyway,

It depends on the circumstances, not who it is.

In this instance, I think it is correct.

I agree. But I agree with the death penalty in several cases... as well as this one... there are some human actions that are just unforgivable.

Living in a country where the Death Penalty was abolished +- 12 years ago, and having seen the level of violent crime (Murders, Rape, Child Rape etc, etc, etc) spiral out of control until it is now the country with one of the Highest violentycrime rates in the world, a lot of people are calling for the reinstatement of the Death Penalty... I am generally against the death Penalty in most cases, however there was a case about 2 years ago, where a young mother, her one year old baby and the child's grandmother went out to celebrate the little girls 1st birthday... They were carjacked. The little baby girl was shot in the head and killed in front of the Mother and Granny. The mother and Granny were then both raped repeatedly and then murdred as well...The Perpatraters were caught, admitted guilt, actually even bragged about it showing absolutely no remorse... In this particular case, I think the death penalty would be too light a punishment... These two guys should have been strung up in Public, whipped, castrated and then left to bleed slowly to death...

To err is human. To ARRR is pirate.

Its a difficult one to answer :!:

You either have a death penalty or you dont. Otherwise you are saying well they only murdered 5 people but the other guy murdered 6 people so we will execute him.

Its only over the past few years that Ive realised that making and passing laws isnt that easy.

So what do you think of the contraversy surround Saddams execution :?:

To be honest I have mixed feeling about it:
- He was a mass murderer and therefore deserves what he got
- It should have been done with a bit more tact, if only to show that the new regime does the right thing properley.

Also have mixed feelings...

Generally against the death penalty BUT Sadam didn't show any mercy for his victims so didn't deserve any mercy himself...

:-?

The death penalty is difficult to support as it's all down to societies interpretation of what is acceptible.

Who gets to decide??? A person is smart but people are stupid. There are too many grey areas to consider. Is the one who orders the atrocity more guilty than the one who carries it out??? Was the action percieved to be "justified" at the time???

My feelings are and always will be no to the death penalty.

Remember - If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem.
