I remember being targeted by this nasty big crow when I was at school. My mum made me wear an empty ice-cream container on my head so that the crow wouldn't be able to peck at my scalp (and thus saving her the bother of having to drive me to school every day). My brother used to offer me his yukky boygerm laden 'army' helmet but I much preferred the ice-cream container. aaaaaaah memories, some good, some not so good. |

I have watched my mum being chased by a peacock as well. She is scared stiff of all birds and I thought it was hilarious! (So did my dad, and we were both in trouble for laughing!).
Some birds can be really scary, but only if you make them feel nervous.. like all wildlife they will leave you alone if they don't feel threatened. MadCat

there's a nature reserve a couple of miles away from where i live, & just before christmas me & mum took my 3 year old nephew to feed the swans-figured they'd be hungry cos it'd been quite cold so no one wants to stand outside freezing to death to feed some birds right? too right! I was scared stiff! theres a bit where you go down a few steps and you can stand right by the waters edge to feed them-i dont think anyone had been in a while so as soon as we got down there & pulled out our loaves of bread they had us surrounded! there was no way were they letting us out without a fight-me & mum just looked at eachother like 'oh my god!', but our robbie was loving it, all the swans pecking at his coat! unfortunately his head was at a bad height and they started edging towards his face too so we felt the need to get him out! there must have been about 30 swans round us, hissing and snapping-my jacket had been nipped at that many times it had pulls all over it! my fingers were scrathed too from them poaching the bread before you had chance to let go of it! it was very daunting-having snapping beaks in all directions!
next time, we'll go in summer when they're not so hungry! |

Awwww those poor swans, perhaps you can stand on top of the steps and just chuck the bread down to them, sort of like a drive-by feeding
