Default Slug Pellets

I was wondering something last night, and I wondered if anyone could help me.

We all know that if you pour salt on a slug they dissolve

So, what I was wondering is... why do they make the green slug pellets that are toxic for pets and birds. Why not make them out of salt and then as the slug slithers over them, they would dissolve....

There must be a reason why they don't make these, but I can't think of one, apart from it may be bad for the soil!

Any ideas out there as to why they don't make salt pellets.....

Patent your idea and market it...

As far as I know, salt is not bad for soil, it occurs naturally in the soil and plants need it to grow.

Just a thought...

Salt eh,..........I wonder if slugs can eat crisps?

Why does salt have such an adverse affect on them :?:

Not sure what it does but it has the same effect pool acid has on humans... It melts everything away.

Do slugs have any uses? Besides aerating the soil?

Default Slug pellets

Slugs have a use - to pass a few minutes watching when you put salt on them!!!

Maybe they dont use salt pellets because they would dissolve in the rain and rock salt doesn't seem to have the same effect on their bodies.

Actually, I don't think slugs have any use apart from eating plants and being a general nuisance.

I'll have to agree with you on that one...

From nice garden to nothing in 10 slugs flat :!: :!: :!: :!:

Hey, at least they provide food for all the birds that visit the garden so

besides a few minutes of pleasure from watching them melt and feeding

birds, they are a total menace to society.

Funny how they only attack the nice gardens and leave the unkept

gardens alone.

Long live slug pellets :!: :!: :!:

I don't know about that one!! Our's isn't the neatest garden in the world, but the slugs seem to like our weeds and roses!!

Maybe they were put on the planet to fall in glasses half full of beer (like the home made slug traps) and provide entertainment as they learn to swim, whilst getting slowly stewed in Stella Artois!!!

Or may be there is an alternative motive for their existence which we know nothing about, and is therefore well hidden in their genetic structure....

Who knows....

My mom is an avid gardener so our garden is absolutely beautiful but the

minute the slugs pitch up, it looks horrific. Really sad how you put all the

love time and effort into a pretty gardens and in one foul swoop, the

wreck everything.

Anyway, maybe they do have some or another type of purpose but until

then, my garden will be scattered with slug pellets!!!!!

We don't have any roses in our garden but they seem to love petunias,

lilies and pansys...
