Who were your heroes when you were growing up?. Did they make any lasting impression or influence you in any way? Did you have heroes whom you later had to reject or reevaluate? Were your major heroes fictional or historical or contemporary?

Good Question!
Spiderman and my Grandad where my childhood heroes Im still inspired by my Grandfather. He was a great man and his memories help me deal with the tough stuff in life.

What a fabulous thread, thanks Indi!
When I was really young it was my older brother who sadly died when I was still little, I completely idolised him and would follow him everywhere I also had a thing for the Royal Family, I was completely obsessed and cut out every picture I could find and made scrap book upon scrap book. I guess I came to realise that most of them are famous just for being rich and I probably realised that fairy tales are just fairy tales.

My Sister I guess was my hero from when I can first remember as a child.. . Being the eldest she always went through various stages in life first...like school, friends, social events etc and then i would follow....
I soon discovered better heros in life like superman, wonder women I wanted to be like them.... I guess as you grow up it all fades and then you really face the realities of life.... more than heros it's ppl who influence you is what counts ... However, the other day I did hear my neice say she wanted to be like me when she was big...awwww bless her.....

I used to look up to an Wayne Carey (Aussie Rules Footballer), he was brilliant on the field. Then one day he was caught having an affair with a teammates wife and nearly broke up the team. Now he is just a coke addicted, woman basher. Great role model for kids.
