I was talking to an American friend the other day about holidays. I was surprised to hear that he only gets 10 days per year
So as Siliconhell attracts people from all over the world I thought that I would ask in the forum. What country do you live in, how many days holiday does your employer give you. I live in the UK, I get 20 days per year + 12 statutory days (Bank Holidays) I think that this is about average. Regards Ziggy |

I get 25 Days leave per year.... 15 days are Mandatory under Labour Law (called statutory leave, which is what the average person gets) plus I get an extra 10 which is a perk of my job (discretionary leave)...
There are then 12 Public Holidays (Bank Holidays) in South Africa... If a public Holiday falls on a Sunday, then the Monday is given off.. so on average, I would get 37 days/year...

I live and work in England, I get 27 days annual leave + 12 statutory days.
When I'm president I'm going to make a mandatory law that all employees are given 5 "I cant be bothered" days a year. These can be used when, well like the title says: when you "cant be bothered" going in to work. Viva Le Presidente Mike Mike....

I live in the U.S. and work in the private sector (a rather large coffee company) and I get 28 days off.
20 vacations days (based on how long I have been with the company.) 2 personal days (1 for each half of the year.) 6 holidays. Not as many as if I worked for the government or a bank, but that's ok. |
