I lived in Cape Town for about a Year... Winter there is awful... rains practically non stop, has very strong winds and gets dark at about 4pm... a really horrible place to be... the only problem is, that when it gets cold in Cape Town, the cold front always seems to move up north across the entire country... so you know that if they have a cold snap there, you can guarantee cold weather in Jhb one to two days later (Johannesburg is +- 1000 miles North of Cape Town)... even though the winters are relatively short here (it starts getting cold around about mid april and gets warm again about the end of August about 4-5 months of cold weather) winters can be really cold... it can get down to the negative teens in some places, although Jhb normally hovers between 0 and -5 overnight and up to about 12 - 15 during the day... thankfully, the summers make up for it(which are about 8 months long as we don't really have much of a spring or autumn) with temperatures around 32 - 34 degrees...
Anyway, I've posted a few more pictures of the Snow on our website if anyone would like to have a look...(will post the mozambiques pics shortly) The URL is www.gifts4africa.co.za/snow

Yep, can get pretty cold... thankfully it doesn't last too long (as I said, about 4 months) The Dogs are ours, The Darker of the 2 horses is ours, the lighter one we are stabling for someone else... It's 1400 KM's from Cape Town to Johannesburg, so probably more like 900 Miles tho I actually haven't done the conversion properly... I heard somewhere that the entire British Isles would fit into the Kruger National Park (not sure how true that is tho???)

'kay... not quite true...
The British Ilse's in total are 244,820 km˛ The Kruger National Park is 18,989 km2 sooo it is a looooooong way off LMAO However the surface are of South AFrica is 1 219 090 km... so South Africa is about 6 times larger than Britain...
