I did German at school and remember it quite well.

When we were in Turkey the Germans were really rude and one barged me out of the doorway to a shop. I stopped and gave her a polite but firm mouthful in German. She stopped and stared at me in complete surprise and even said sorry! I nearly dropped on the floor with shock!

I'm a jew and don't really like the germans, but got drunk one night and was dancing to Prodigy (Twisted Firestarter, which mike will never let me forget) with 2 really nice german girls.. so even I made exceptions..!!

yeah, i dont think anything collectively bad about them, if anything i dont like it because of our ignorance to their language! i did french and spanish at school. b ut didnt learn near enough to actually understand people speaking it-just the odd word here and there!

if i ever got into the government i'd fight to get kids taught different languages as soon as they start school cos i think by the time you start high school its too late. i might be of a minority who feels like that, but it would be much more pleasant to go abroad and be able to interract with people from different walks of life without feeling guilty cos you hope they can speak english instead!

My sister just came back from a Holiday in Morroco... said it was fantastic... I bet not too many ppl speak English their either

You Guys in the UK should really consider a Trip to Southern Africa as it's works out to be a really cheap holiday given the current exchange rate (Just don't come here in Winter

)

lol! yes, it would be a bit devastating to take a trip to south africa and be greeted by snow!
