I've just returned to Australia after spending 5 wonderful weeks in Europe with my family (husband, son, 2 daughters, 1 son-in-law).

We tracked around Italy, Monaco, Switzerland and Paris by train before hopping on the Eurostar to London. This was our first visit to the UK. After 3 fantastic days seeing all the sights my husband and I farewelled the family back to Oz while we flew up to Edinburgh. We spent a great week in a hire car tootling back to London.

We found everyone so helpful, polite and generous. We stayed in smaller towns rather than cities. We can recommend The Ship Inn in Aldborough in Yorkshire. Because we were Aussies the owner gave my husband a Wallabies Rugby jumper that he had been given. We were most impressed with his kindness.

Our only difficulty was finding the right exit from the thousands of roundabouts we drove around. Boy you Brits like roundabouts! And the roads are so narrow!

We look forward to coming back.

Lol..yes we do love our roundabouts, where i live on one stretch of the road which is about 2 miles long, there are 10 mini roundabouts and 2 big ones..apart from the roundabout im glad u had a great time here in the UK

Im glad you enjoyed the UK, on the whole the natives are quite civilised and polite. On your trip from Scotland to London you probably drove down the M6 and within about 2 miles of our house

Sorry but we missed the M6 as we took a left at Carlisle and followed Hadrian's wall, then down to York, past Nottingham, to Warwick.

Unfortunately it was pouring rain in Sherwood Forest and the Visitor's Information Centre were charging 5 pounds to park, before you could even see if it was worth parking! With our Aussie exchange rate that equals $12.50. The Sheriff of Nottingham is still 'taxing the poor to pay the rich'. If only Robin Hood were around today - he'd sort them out! Lol

Glad you liked your trip to the UK. I know your exchange rate makes it very expensive. When I went to Aus, I found it really cheap!!!
