Jumping on the same idea that salsadad started how do you all feel about cycles being on the road??? We have had a huge discussion in our work bulletin board about this, some people believe that cycles should be registered like cars and others even go so far to say that cyclists should have a licence to ride on the road.
I am a cyclist, winter/summer, rain or shine and have a reasonably easy trip to work with cycleways & low traffic wide-ish roads to and from my place. I don't ride on the road much but when I do I don't have too much trouble with motorists, except for the rare idiot out there. Personally, I don't much like riding on the road and get irritated with cyclists who do when there are alternate routes which include cycleways. Thoughts???

I dont mind normal cyclists
I loath the lycra clad cyclists, especially when they are in groups They ride in parallel in two and even threes. This is not only dangerous but against the law in the UK. It means that I the law abiding citizen has to drive on the wrong side of the road to get past them. Thats not to easy on many of the UK countryside roads. If I beep my horn they ignore me or gesticulate rude signs at me They go through red lights as well I better stop now before I blow a gasket

The roads are there for us all to use, it's all about attitude. Different modes of transport have different needs. Just a little patience goes a long way.
Better to reach your destination late than not to reach it at all for the sake of a careless overtake
