Thumbs down A little rant

Could go under the "things that annoy you", but I thought I'd be a devil and start a new thread.

The Rant?? It's about adults giving up their seats for flustered mums, only to have a child sit on the seat!!!! When I was growing up, and when I was bringing my own children up, it was children who stood up for an adult to have a seat!! No wonder children these days have no manners and disregard older people, they are being taught that adults go out of their way to suit them. I'm sorry if this upsets people, but I think it's appalling - if the mother sat on the seat and put the child on her lap that's fair enough, but to let a child think it has a right to a seat when adults are standing is simply not on!!

OK - rant over!

I have to agree with you wholeheartedly there... although, I can't remember the last time I used Public Transport???? Must have been about 10, 15 years ago???

My turn to have a little rant...

Why can't I seem to get past the Free Kick level (level 9) on lightning pool... I've only managed it once and then got up to level 11...
I just put on a score of 49,560, and was only up to that level (level 9) and thought I had Bubbobs highscore in the bag when that Damned Goalkeeper kept knocking my last ball out

Quick tip on that game for those that want it (Gail Otto and ThundeRumble please ignore this )... the BEST way to get a highscore for each level, is to try and pot more than one ball per shot... you get Big bonuses for doing so...

To err is human. To ARRR is pirate.

Waldo..when my 2 girls were younger i used to have one on my lap and the other in the seat next to me, but as the bus got more and more full i would have both girls on my lap just so an adult could sit down. But when the child reaches 5 years of age u have to pay for that child so why shouldnt the child have the right to sit in that seat? but to me it was all about respect and i wanted my children to respect others so they were made to move so that an adult could sit down, and now my children have respect and im very proud of them.

I was also brought up like that.. and I hold doors open for people for them to walk through and ignore me without even saying "Thank you".

What annoys me is that I walk with a stick, and sometimes use a wheelchair. I never get offered a seat on a bus (in the days when I could still reach our local bus stop).

About a year ago I was in our local sainsburys to get a 2 pint of milk. I was walking down the middle isle with my milk to about where the checkouts were and there were 2 teenagers walking towards me. They somehow tripped me up and i fell over and milk exploded over the floor and me. Did they apologise? No. They said, and I do not lie "50 points for the milk and 100 points for the cripple".

These days I think respect is a gone and forgotten nicety.

It is bad these days - and with more and more steps being taken to ensure that children CANNOT be disciplined I can't see it getting any better. Oh dear, I do sound like one of those old blue-rinsed old dears harking back to the "good old days", but just because they were the "old" days doesn't make them wrong! sorry to hear about your troubles in the supermarket - hope you were ok afterwards.

I lost a lot of dignity, but I was OK... a little soggy though!!!

I was disciplined with the back of a hand when it was required and it never did me any harm. I think everyone is too politically correct now.. that's why the new rules are as they are.. I'm only 34 and I sound like a blue rinse old dear as well!!! I do believe kids should be hit when they have done something wrong, else how do they know it's bad? A scolding word doesnt quite have the same effect on a kid I have found..

I smacked my girls when they were younger if they done anything wrong, but i must have done something right as i didnt have to smack them very often, and i will treat my 21 month old son the exact same way, if he deserves a smack he will get one, the other day he was pushing buttons on the dvd player i told him off twice and on the third time i said "do that again and u will get a smack" he done it again and i tapped the back of his hand, and he hasnt touched it since.
