Hyno - it's amazing, you live in Oz - the other side of the world from us, yet we say exactly the same thing.. Mike and I say "What hope have they got" when we hear and see the same thing.
I am no angel and I do admit I swear a fair bit but Mikes lad is 15 and we still don't swear in front of him. It's not for him to hear but I see kids in the local shops swearing and only last week I was given the finger by a 9-10yr old after I beeped my horn at him as he walked in to the road with no look what so ever. I guess we can't win some battles :sigh: MadCat |

Madcat thats awful what happened to u in the supermarket.
I am 26 yrs old and was brought up to respect people and my mum smacked me and my brothers if we were really naughty and didnt do us any harm. Also my brothers are 17 and 14 and are really respectful but some people their age are not and i think its awful. Kate xx

Playing devil's advocate a little here, but, a seat has been paid for on behalf of the child so why should the child be expected to stand?
More importantly, in the event of an accident the child would be more likely to sustain injury if standing rather than being seated. Surely it's the responsibility of adults to look after the welfare of our children. The real answer is to provide sufficient transport for all passangers to be seated. As the dad of a teenage girl I find her friends and aquaintances for the most part to be well mannered and respectful. As is so often the case the bad minority tarnish the name of the good majority.

Salsdad, i basically said the same thing as u in a previous post here is what i said........"when the child reaches 5 years of age u have to pay for that child so why shouldnt the child have the right to sit in that seat?" ........but i think its all down to respect i made my kids get off their seat for an older person whether i paid for them or not but only to teach them respect, and now that they are older (17 and 14) i dont have to tell them they just get up and let the older ones sit down and im sooo proud of that, theres not many kids these days that do that

It depends on how old I suppose. As a 38 yr old fit man I would not expect a 10 yr old kid to have to stand for me as I am more likely to be able to keep my balance on a moving bus or train than them.
Saying that, I always vacate my seat for pregnant women. I mean, have you seen the size of some of them??? If one fell over it might tip the bus!!!
