My wife used to work in the movie retail industry so we used to watch about 6-7 movies every week. There is very little we haven't seen between 1980-2003!!! We haven't seen much lately, unless you include Boohbah or Rugrats.
Geez, am I jealous. I love the movies and could easily earn my money watching them for a living.
I am however more a fantasy person. Come hither LOTR, Harry Potter, Terry Pratchet, Robin Hobb (those last two writers and not movies)
Hyno, I see you are a sci-fi bloke. Are you a trekkie too?

Have you ever watched Desk Set??? Katharine Hepburn/Spencer Tracy???
Nope. Not really into the older stuff. I am still a young un. Favourite old ones are Mary Poppins, Singing in the rain and The Haunting (not with Catherine Z-Jones, the original) That's about it.

What are the fave older movies of you guys out there?

1922 version of the movie 'Nosferatu'

It was the original Vampire film, it seems full of cliches but you need to remember that it was the 1st of it's kind.

The original King Kong was excellent for it's time as was The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Im also a fan of old comedy such as Trial of a Lonsome Pine (Laurel & Hardy) and the British classic the Lady Killers.

A cracking film from the 60s/70's is The Man who would be King

I agree

Kyle was also in a superb SciFi B movie called the hidden (Heavy metal, fast cars and very funny).

Man, I've got about 10 replies to do at once here.

Favourite old movies:
The Time Machine (the original, searched 500 2nd hand video stores to get a copy)
Gone with the Wind - sensational.
When Worlds Collide
A Clockwork Orange (right right)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
Citizen Kane
War of the Worlds (original, but I did like the remake too)
Day of the Triffids
Snow White, origianl Disney.

Thanks for the recommendation Mike - even my wife has not heard of the movie The Hidden - we'll watch it post haste. :!:

Of COURSE I am a Trekkie!!!
Loved "Voyager" the most.

I have every Pratchett book ever released, my favourites are "Sourcery", "Interesting Times"(your wife is a big Hippo) and "Wee Free Men" (CRIVENS).

If you haven't already, try Robert Rankin, especially the Brentfrod Trilogy. I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself. ops: ops:

Give it a few more watches - It grew on me.

My daughter loves all of the Barbie ones, and I concede that some of them are not too bad either.

Shawshank, what a FANTASTIC film...

I have watched it so many times, yet every time it is on TV, I watch it again!

I also like Twelve Monkeys, as every time we watch it, we see something else relevant to the plot.

Schindlers list is also a fantastic and moving film. Well worth a watch.

Absolutely loved it. saw a documentary about it and how is sparked the whole vampire cult. I am a devoted Ann Rice (Interview with a Vampire) follower. I have read majority of her books.

Read all the books before I watched (all of them) the movies. Waiting for a Gone with the Wind remake as everything gets remade these days. i wonder who will play Scarlet? Probably a big lipped, big haired, big boobed bimbo just like america makes them. (try and say that 5 times fast!)

Only read the book. Never had the courage to watch the movie as the book was very disturbing.

The books are just more vivid than the movies, as so much gets cut out.
