What made me sad today is the coming of ANZAC day.

It reminds me that in todays society, we have learned nothing.

Also we still have no rain. It makes me sad that we are in a very serious global warming situation.

Ive hurt my back or rather the muscles around my back. I get a breath talking pain every time I move or take a deep breath. Ive no idea how I hurt my back

Bad backs do seem to rather be the thing at the moment. I really do know how you feel, and hope it gets better soon.

The finally diagnosed my problems as being a prolapsed disc - having a "surgical assessment" after the Bank Holiday

Don't like the sound of that!

Glad to hear you finally have your diagnosis. I have 3 prolapsed disks in my back. Prolapsed is the correct term for slipped disks. There are many non-surgical procedures to help this.

I regularly have epidurals (long term steroid based painkillers) inserted into my neck, middle and lower back. I also have facet joint injections which stop the pain messages firing over the joint synapses where they come from the spine in the damaged area. Nerve blocks are also used to stop the relevant places sending the messages at all.

I come out of the day unit feeling like a human pincushion. I am sore for about3 days and then you get up to 6 months pain free. They don't work for everyone but they do help me. Try get referred to your local hospital pain clinic as they can do this for you.

OMG - that sounds soooooooooooooo scary! You have no idea how much I DON'T like needles!

Sounds as though you have quite a bad time of it - seems to unfair for one person to have to suffer so much, and makes me feel bad for whinging about a simple bad back

No bad back is ever simple - don't apologise.

Some clinics do the procedures under local, and some under sedation. I am always under sedation and asleep when I have mine done
