The recent posts about music have got me thinking about the best music from the last few decades.. it doesn't matter about the season, they just have to be good or mean something to you.
Thinking from the 60's to present day, what are your top 5 tracks from each? Mine are: also 1959 - Buddy Holly - It Doesn't Matter Anymore (I have an original vinyl copy!!!). 60's Stand By Me - Ben E King (1st dance at my wedding, I love this song!) Everyday - Buddy Holly Isrealites - Desmond Dekker (1969) Doo-Wah-Diddy - Manfredd Mann (1964) She's Leaving Home - The Beatles (67 ish!) 70's Anarchy In The UK - The Sex Pistols (1976) Supernaut - Black Sabbath American Pie - Don McLean (1972) Nothing Happened Today - The Boomtown Rats (1979) Green Onions - Booker T & The MG's 80's Wasteland - The Mission (1987) Whole Lotta Rosie - AC/DC (1980) Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams (1985) Mirror In The Bathroom - The Beat (1980) 90's Thunderstruck - AC/DC (1990) Deliverance - The Mission (1990) Dragula - Rob Zombie (1998) Nightswimming - REM (1992) Runaway Train - Soul Asylum 2000 Dreamer - Ozzy Osbourne - We're not worthy!!! American Idiot - Green Day (2005) Come and Get It - AC/DC (2000) Time Is Running Out - Muse Oh My God - The Kaiser Chiefs As you can see, I like a very wide range of music.... what are your favourites?? I must admit - I'm still mainly stuck in the goth and classic metal from the '80s....
New music doesn't do it for me.. too bland. You can't beat a good bit of rather loud Black Sabbath to lift any mood! MadCat | ||||||||

My fave song is ''The glory of Love''
Here are the words... You gotta give a little, Take a little, and let your poor heart break a little, Thats the story of, Thats the glory of love. You gotta laugh, a little, Cry, a little, and let the clouds roll by a little. Thats the story of thats the glory of love. 2 lines I forgot! then... ''And when the world is through with us, we got each others arms.... You gotta win, A little, Lose a little, and always have the blues a little, thats the story of that the glory of love. Anyone Like it? ^^ |

Supernaut??? That's a fairly upbeat track for a goth.
My favourite Black Sabbath song would have to be NIB, and it's also the ringtone on my mobile. Best riff ever. I also really like Hand of Doom. Favourite early songs: Judas Priest - Dreamer/Deceiver & Freewheel Burning Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills & Aces High Ozzy Osbourne - Over the Mountain & Suicide Solution. Led Zeppelin - The Immigrant Song Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant Carly Simon - You're so vain Mercyful Fate - Return of the Vampyre Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalised Crass - Sheep Farming in the Fauklands Newtown Neurotics - Kick out the Tories Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia Vice Squad - Last Rockers Madness - Our House Peter and the Test Tube Babies - Banned from the Pubs I could go on and on. Like Madcat I don't like too much of the new stuff. Only new stuff like System of a Down will do. Currently I'm listening to Lights/Camera/Revolution by Suicidal Tendencies. Oh yeah!!! |

Talking about Black Sabbath on ring tones, I will make you laugh..
I jut got a new phone that plays MP3's (Samsung E530) and I put Black Sabbath Embryo as my ring tone. You know - the 30 second instrumental track?? Well, the other night we were upstairs and my phone was downstairs and I could hear some music. I was sorting out clean washing in the bedroom and asked Mike if he was listening to music on the PC. When I got downstairs I had missed 2 calls. It was my own phone ringing and I didnt recognise it!!! And I class myself as a gadet freak and I didnt even recognise my own phone... Quite embarrassing! Yes, supernaut is a bit upbeat for a goth, but it's good to do my exercises to! I also like Children of the Grave and Into the Void to exercise to... and also, of course, a bit of Rob Z!! My wife has "Clocks" as her ring tone. She forgot what it was when I changed it for her and kept asking "what's that noise???" too!!!
I have 3 ringtones that I swap around. NIB is the current, but I also have BYOB (System of a Down for the non believers) and Slipknot "Wait and Bleed". Worst part is when I get called in at 3am it scares the heck out of my poor wife when the mobile goes off. |
