Movies and Dental Records

The Guru admits to watching TV and Movies and has lately been puzzled by something;

In the movies they identify a dead body using the dental records, but how do they know who their dentist was :?: :?: :?:

Maybe they have a system simalar to finger printing... Not sure though but good question!!!
