Encouraging Users to Post?

OK people, get your thinking caps on!

How can we encourage or even entice more users to join in with the forum chat?

Do we:
- Need new forum sections
- Do you recommend any particular subjects that others will like
- More forum competitions

Constructive feedback is welcome

Competitions usually keep people posting regularly.
The other idea would be something along the lines of the "funny farm" word association game that several members completed as a group last year. If we had a challenge that we all had to works together to solve that would be great, but these things take a lot of time to create I would imagine.

I dont recall the funny farm post Do you fancy creating one?

Myself, Saz, Bubbob and Madcat are/were doing it... altho I haven't looked at it in a lonnnnnnggggg time, I am on level 14....

Another good way to get people posting are these Point and Click games (such as http://home.scarlet.be/~bbonte/loosethemoose.html )

As these can be quite difficult, ppl tend to discuss them with each other....
Siliconhell wouldn't have to host the games either, just link to them and Siliconhellers could complete them as a group....

Great... is their anyway to "broadcast" this to existing active users so that all users are aware of it???? ... perhaps via a mass e-mail or a Private Message in the Users Inbox on the site???
Also, perhaps we could make new users who register aware of these as well???

We havent mass emailed our users for sometime now as we dont want to be classed as spam merchants.

I'll see if we can create a site wide announcement
