For me that's a really BIG question. I get through between 1 and 3 books a week (commuting is great for bookworms like me). But I think the best book I've ever read is probably The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever by Stephen Donaldson (well, it's a series but all about the same character/world). But to be fair, if you asked me next week I might come up with a different answer.

I read a lot of James Herbert books in the 80's and early 90's and really enjoyed them... I picked one up the other day to re-read and it was quite dated... but he was(is?) a good read!!!

I think "The Stand" by Stephen King must be up there as well as "Misery", "The Green Mile" and "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" (actually most books Stephen King - think I've only ever read 2 books of his I didn't enjoy)

I think IT is a great Stephen King book, but the best book I have ever read was "Road To Wigan Pier" by George Orwell. It is a fascinating insight into the place I live from the 1920's-30's. I found it fascinating and look at the buldings for dates when I go past now! It gave me a real interesting insight into life at that time.
