At the minute I am neither, I will explain my reasons.
The monarchy only really serve nowadays to bring money into the UK. In other countries it may be different but not here. They don't actually do anything for our country. I am sick of hearing about their exploits in the news and there exorbitant spending habits, which we pay for. Unlike the majority of Americans, British people don't tend to be that Patriotic, or not the people I know anyway. I think if we had a different monarchy structure, my answer maybe different. I think that the monarchy should be elected by the people. If our monarchic leader was Sir David Attenborough, I would be a monarchist. I think he is an ace guy and liked by the majority of UK residents. I think he would make an excellent King. MadCat

Coming from a Republic I can't really comment on this.
The last two Presidents here in Ireland have been Women and were voted to serve two terms each. Mary Robinson was the first ever woman to be voted President of Ireland and Mary McAleese is now in her second term as President. Both have done a wonderful job representing our country abroad. Mary Robinson went on to be the Human Rights Commissioners for the United Nations and served in that position for five years. |

If we could elect a monarchy I would vote for Johny Rotten
Just consider what he would say to the American president Vote King Johnny ![]() I do agree that Attenborough would be a good alternative though not nearly as entertaining On a more serious note my answer in Country

I'm also a neither although my mum is really bad. To the point where she used to have a go at me whilst watching Braveheart. (She's Glaswegian and I'm technically English although I don't tell anyone). Glaswegians are notorious for being patriotic of Glasgow.
Why is it when some people go abroad they becaome more 'British' than when they're actually in Britain?
