Default QOTW: Which Country Would You Like To Visit?

This weeks question of the week is:

Which country would you like to visit and why?

I'd like to visit Japan. It seems a place full of mystery and technology. I just wonder what it would be like to be dropped into a culture where I couldnt understand the language, alphabet, food or the customs

Its a very old culture too, and they seem to be way ahead of us with technology.

I nearly got a paid trip to Japan During the World Cup (working holiday), sadly, it fell thru

I would put Japan near the top of my list of place to visit as well for similar reasons to Guru...
I would also like to Visit Egypt, to see the Pyramids, take a cruise down the nile...
actually, I landed in Cairo once, on a flight to the UK from SA about 20 years ago but never got out of the plane

I would like to go to Japan too, for the same reasons. I would never go unless I learned the language though and I have tried! All I can say at the moment is "Hello my name is Christina" It's not an easy language because it's so different from english.

I really want to go to Australia too! It looks like a beautiful place.

Any connection between your reality and mine is completly coincidental

I'm terrible with Languages... I can generally follow a conversation in Afrikaans and can speak a little of it, also, I can follow snatches of conversations in Dutch(Afrikaans is derived from Dutch and is therefore very similar) altho can't speak a word of it...

I've just realised that the first time I've mentioned my name on this forum.

So as a proper introduction. Hello everyone I'm Christina.

Sounds like you do better than most.

Apparently the british are the worst at languages in the whole on Europe. Doesn't give me much hope.

I'd like to go to Bali, I always have, I heard the name years ago and thought "I have to go there!".

In my head I see images of beautiful quiet beaches and luxurious beach huts. MadCat and I could just relax and chill out for a month or three. Maybe watch the sunset over the ocean whist sharing a few beers.

*sigh*

I'll keep dreaming

I don't have any real desire to travel to anywhere else as there is still so much of Australia I would like to see. There a lot of places I have been to that I would like to revisit also.

It probably does sound rather stange to someone who's not used to it...
The main difference between Dutch and Afrikaans is that Afrikaans contains a lot of French derived words as well as Dutch derived words (Afrikaaners are descendants of mainly Dutch and French Settlers)...

So the phrase "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" in English translates to the following
In Afrikaans: "Die vinnege bruin vos het oor die lui hond gespring"
(translated back into English, word for word:"The fast brown fox did over the lazy dog jump")
In Dutch: "De snelle bruine vos sprong oor de luie hond"
Where Dutch uses the German Derived word "Snelle" for quick, Afrikaans uses the French Derived word "Vinnege"... other than that, there's not to much difference

I'd like to go to Africa to see the National Parks and the animals up close and personal and not in a zoo like you see them here.

I did want to go to Australia, but having been there and travelled around, that's one crossed off the list. a beautiful country without a doubt.
