wont let me play new games
when i click on latest new games i get the message "Your usergroup is not allowed to play any game from that category." and it wont let me play them...
any ideas anyone ? bubbob |

thanks, i guess im not one for reading things , i tend just to jump straight in and play...lol
after i did read about only if you sponsor site then you will be allowed to play the new games, it got me thinking so i looked back on the main page of sillicon hell and took note of.... "By joining our free community you will have access to post topics, download the quiz answers, save highscores in the Arcade, and access many other special features. Registration is fast, simple and absolutely free" i know that to keep sites running it costs £'s but if you say the site is free then its a lil contradicting especially when you can play the very same games on various other sites free. i am member of quite a few vbulletin sites and they host many of the games you do and others you dont they also have forum and tournaments like your site but its still all free no indication of anyone asking for sponsors for the sites upkeep, i guess im one of many people that dont like wasting good money no matter how little you ask for just to play some basic games which are quite addictive at times, if the games were alot better then i might pay for them like i do on Pogo.com where the games are 100% better in graphics and playability. thanks again... bub |

did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? i dont think there was any need for all that...
to sponsor the site is optional. personally, I appreciate the time and cost that goes in to running a site like this, and compared to a lot of forums online i enjoy chatting to the people that come on here so if i can afford it I am happy to help out in that small way. Obviously, as you just quoted, the registration for the site is indeed free, otherwise you wouldnt be posting or playing the rest of the games in the arcade, however I dont think you can begrudge admin for allowing the sponsors to preview the new games as a way of a thank you for helping out with running costs! You may see it as 'a waste of good money' but personally I get a lot of enjoyment out of this site so i see it as money well spent! and you obiously like the site too, otherwise, as you said, you can play the same games on other forums, but you still choose to play them here. |

The reason we ask people to sponsor the site and others don't is that other sites run them as a business and they get money from other sources such as their adverts.
Not many of our users click on our adverts, for some reason. As it is common knowledge on the site, I am disabled and Mike has his health issues too. I run the site as a hobby to keep my mind from melting as I am not well enough to work... not well enough to work, means no salary coming in. The hosting fees are very expensive and the more people use the forum and download the games, the more bandwidth we use and the more we pay. That's why we ask people to sponsor the site.. It's your choice, obviously we are not MAKING you sponsor us, but as a thank you if you do you get to play the new games earlier than other members. MadCat | ||||||||
