Its a pretty good connection that you have there! Its well above the UK average. I guess that you are also on Cable

Do you know how lucky you are to get speeds like that. I have the highest available in South Africa and my test is pathetic compared to yours.

That isnt too bad compared to the UK. I think the average here is about 512kbps to 1024kbs

MadCat and I are lucky in that we are in a cable area, and, we can afford to pay for it.

I suppose I shouldn't complain as it sure beats the old 56k dial up. They have really improved their dsl speeds but not fast enough for my liking. There still isn't enough competition out there so they basically charge astronomical fees just to keep connected. But to give the devil their due the prices have halved in the the past 2 years and the speeds have increased.

I am also lucky that I am in the dsl area as well. Most people aren't so lucky.

I have a supposed 384k connection... here are my test results... not very impressive at all...We are in the process of buying a new house... if/when we move, I'll upgrade my connection speed

I am running on a 4096kbps connection so it definitely does make a difference when I compare it to your test results. I upgraded from a 512 when the faster connections were made available. So if you can afford it it is the way to go. I'm lucky as my hubby works for Telkom so we get staff rates which really helps.

Well the costs are coming down .... and now that Telkom have been granted a TV broadcast License, they will have to reduce the costs of ADSL even further if they are going to be Competitive (as they are going to use the existing cable infrastructure)...

Thanks for the well wishes... Just waiting for Bond approval (applied for it today) but as I work for Nedbank, it shouldn't be too much of a problem...
