I wouldn't hold my breath... we have supposed to have had a 2nd operator nearly 10 years ago already... still waiting... and besides, they are going to use Telkoms existing infrastucture anyway... must admit tho, they have improved there service and costs seem to have come down (if you take one of their package deals)

The 2nd operator will be coming in soon. They have been digging up all our roads putting in all their cables. They will be using a good deal of Telkoms infrastructure like Cell C used the other networks infrastructure when they first came in. That was why they were able to offer a lower rate.
I will keep an ear open and let you know when the new operator comes in. From what my hubby says it will definitely be this year. |

I agree, it can only be a good thing to have a little competition....
Going back to the original subject of the thread, I upgraded my internet connection to 1024/4096 connection.... It's a bit better than it was (actually quite a lot better) but still not great

Glad you have upgraded. It does make a difference and Telkom do seem to be trying to improve. The only problem is that tryign to squeeze more out of our old copper lines is difficult. Some of the older areas have very dicey copper and any crackle on the line causes speed problems. They will eventually have to upgrade their lines.
On another note Nutty, how is your home purchase going?
