Windows 98 & ME where developed for home users, the worst thing about them was that the upgrade path was non existent

I used 98 for a while at home, I found it quite stable, that is once SR2 was released ](*,)

I'll not move to Vista until at least the first Service Pack has been released.

To be honest Im quite happy with XP, gosh did I really say that ops:

Are any of you using Vista?

What do you think of it, does it have any killer features that XP doesnt have?

Im still using XP as it requires less resources, I cant afford to upgrade my hardware just so I can use Vista.

XP runs faster than Vista. In my opinion Vista doesnt provide anything extra that I need.

We've had vista for a couple of months now and i do still miss my XP! I knew my way around XP better, like changing settings on programs and stuff like that, but microsoft have made vista much more complicated for non-tech-heads to work their way around! I feel like a beginner again with it, like i darent touch it incase i break it! lol!

Oh, and any games you have or hardware wont work either. We've had to replace our printer & scanner because the drivers were non-existant! Spent ages going through the websites to download the vista drivers, but when you try to install them they're not recognised!!!

How old are your printer and Scanner? I'm sure if thery are relatively new, the manufacturer will have bought out a driver for Vista by now!!!

I won't even bother with it until I have a new machine and then I may still reinstall XP rather than Vista

You actually need some quite powerful hardware to run Vista... my "old" P4 2.4 GHz machine probably wouldn't handle it... ( I still remember my first XT lmao)...

I remember I hated XP at first after switching from Win 2000... and I hated Win 2000 after switching from 98... think it's just a learning curve... although I do believe that the Home Edition of Vista has LESS features that XP home edition

You Luddites

I think I'll be sticking with XP until Im forced into Vista or whatever there is then.

Im just hoping that Vista doesnt go the same way as ME Which was nowhere, there wasnt even an upgrade path for it.

I remember my first XT as well, it was a massive box

Scanner was probably a couple of years old, but the printer was less than 12 months. I went onto the manufacturers website to download the drivers, it let me download them but it still ouwldnt recognise the printer as hardware?!
