I was hoping to get one for my lovely wife for her birthday and after spending COUNTLESS WRETCHED HOURS on the web researching I have come to the conclusion that I am more confused now than I was before.
The features I would like are: 30GB storage. FM radio. Voice recording (optional) Video (optional) Lightweight Stable (minimal crashes) Easy to use. The units that have interested me so far are: Creative Zen Vision 30gb Ipod 30gb Iriver H120/H140 Any ideas??? |

I highly recommend the Creative Zen :!: I got MadCat one over 2 years ago, she says its the best pressie that I have ever got her.
Its now rigged up with a small set of Creative portable speakers, MadCat can now listen to her entire music collection wherever she may be. I have the small 5gb Zen with FM radio, its ace :!: Dont be a fashion victim with the iPod Mike ...

Thanks for the advice. I ended up getting the Creative Zen 30gb as it has the FM radio and voice recorder (my wife is a psych student). I also picked up the car unit as well. This techy section is a good idea. I wonder who thought of it???

(I knew that, I was being a smarty pants). ;-) I'll let you know how the unit goes when my wife unwraps it and we start playing with it.

How friendly is the software for the Creative ones? I've only had experience with the iPod from friends, and obviously the synching is fairly easy, and it's not too bad to set up playlists on them on your desktop and synch them.
I'm also looking for one for a gift... I'm technical and could probably work any of them, but if I give it as a gift and it's hard to use, I'm the one that's stuck helping the person everytime they want to load a new album. I don't want that... Just curious how those of you who own the Creative ones feel about the interface, synching music, and maintaining of playlists and such... Otto

My wife is a technophobe, well, sort of and she has worked out the creative zen 30gb very easily. It is attractive, light and feature packed.
I would recommend it wholeheartedly. |
