Riddle me this.

My neice told me this riddle and it is quite obscure (I thought so anyway) So I'd like to see how long it takes you guys to figure it out.

A man jumps off cliff to commit suicide. Just as he jumps his mobile rings and he immediatly regrets having jumped. Why?

The only reason he jumped was because he thought he was the last person alive. So when the phone rang he realised that he wasn't the last person he then regretted having jumped.
