Music trivia : Name 20 songs

Rules:
- You must list the artist and the name of the song
- You can only use a band/artist once
- It must be a well known song
- The competition will run until all of the questions are answered, or until the end of October
- The 500 Tokens will go to the first person to correctly list 20 songs
- other token rewards will be given out at my discretion
- you cannot use the examples I have given below


1). Name 10 cover versions and artists which were/are more or as popular as the original - also name the original artist
(e.g. Tainted Love by Soft Cell more popular than the original by Gloria Jones)

2.) Name 10 Songs which use samples from other hit songs (and name the sampled song and Artist)
(e.g. SOS by Rhianna, which samples Tainted Love by Soft Cell)...

How strictly are we defining "more popular than the original" here? :?:

This IS a toughie - it's trickier for us young uns though. It's a shock to the system to discover half the songs we know and love are themselves cover versions. (I never knew Gloria Jones did 'Tainted Love' first :shock: )

By this I mean better known or bigger hit... there is a lot of leeway here I guess....

LOL... you'd be surprised at how many people my age didn't know that Soft Cells version was a cover...
