Twenty-six teenage cheerleaders tried to cram themselves into a lift at the University of Texas to see how many would fit, but then they got stuck and had to be rescued.
One girl was treated and released at a hospital and two others were treated at the scene after the prank, officials said. The group of 14 to 17-year-olds were attending a cheerleading camp when they decided to stuff themselves into an elevator at Jester Residence Hall on the UT campus. The lift went down to the first floor but then the doors of the overloaded elevator wouldn't open, officials said. After a few panicked cell phone calls, police and firefighters were called to the scene and it took a repairman about 25 minutes to fix the door, police said. UT officials didn't find the prank funny. "It's dangerous, actually," UT police spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon said. "They're lucky that that's all that happened." Silly so-and-so's!!

I've been in the back of a lift and had too many people get in. It went to the basement and instead of the doors opening it dropped further than it should. It was really scary as we were jam packed in, people were having panic attacks

I would have been angry too. I mena if the lift is too crowded don't get in and simply wait for another one, or take the stairs. It's just impatience/laziness on their part which put others at risk. Maybe it's because I'm so patient but when I see other people who are unwilling to simply wait for something I get annoyed.

Crazy Cheerleaders!
I got stuck in a lift between the 7th and 8th floor - had quite a wait to be rescued by a surly janitor and a chair that he place in for us to climb up onto and out onto the floor. I bravely volunteered to leave first, frankly I was fed up with the other passengers by then!! |
