Cow falls 200ft on to van

A US couple had a miraculous escape when a cow fell off a 200ft cliff and landed on their minivan.

The cow landed on the bonnet of Charles and Linda Everson's minivan near Manson, east of Seattle in Washington state.

"It was just bam - you just saw something come down and hit the hood," Charles Everson told the Wenatchsee World.
Amazingly, the Eversons carried on driving for about a mile before pulling over. The van was badly damaged, with a smashed windscreen, but the couple were unhurt.

Mr and Mrs Everson, from Westland, Michigan, were on holiday in the area, celebrating their first wedding anniversary. They were taken to hospital as a precaution but later released.

Mr Everson, 49, said he didn't actually see the animal and didn't realise what had happened until after the impact.

"I'm like, 'I don't believe this. I don't believe this. I don't believe this,' " he said, adding that he repeated the phrase "about 20 times".
Arnold Baker, Chelan County Fire District 5 chief, said the cow was a heifer he estimated to weigh about 600 pounds.

"It's funny because it was such a close call," Baker said. "Inches different and the couple in this car would have been killed."

The cow, about a year old, belonged to a breeder in the area who had earlier reported the animal missing, Baker said.

Yes good point! Something weighing 600 pounds falling 200 feet would certainly make a mess.
