The Army is reportedly testing secret technology which makes tanks and troops invisible.
The Ministry of Defence revealed they made a vehicle seem to completely disappear in trials last week. A soldier present at the trials told The Sun: "This technology is absolutely incredible. If I hadn't been present I wouldn't have believed it. "I looked across the fields and just saw grass and trees - but in reality I was staring down the barrel of a tank gun." The highly secret trials were conducted by the Royal Engineers and scientists from specialist researchers QinetiQ, the former research arm of the MoD. The breakthrough uses cameras and projectors to beam images captured from the surrounding landscape on to a specially-adapted tank coated with silicon to maximise their reflective qualities. The result is that the naked eye sees only the view which is behind the tank. The MoD are also testing a military jacket which works on the same principles. Here is a picture of the tank in action. Can you spot it? ![]() Professor Sir John Pendry of Imperial College London, the world's leading authority on the physics of invisibility, said: "It is realistic to expect battlefield applications in five years - given sufficient funding. "The theory is done and dusted. The hard work now goes into development." OK so there isnt really a tank in that picture, I was just having a laugh

This technology is not new at all... The SA Revenue Services have been making my salary disappear for years now
On a more serious note, this is quite amazing... A bit like a Klingon Cloaking Device

There is a TV programe in the UK called "Crafty Tricks of War" where they tried to make a cloaking device. They covered a vehicle with large monitors. It kind of worked, it certainly showed that it was feasible. I could have fun with a personal cloaking device
