UK terror threat "Critical"

Lets see... In the last few days we've gotten a new prime minister, had major floods in England (with more rain to come), two car bombs found in London and a burning car driven into Glasgow airport.

What an exciting week. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the UKs current situation.

I think this past weeks gone by in a bit of a blur to be honest! Its all just been a bit unreal! As for the prime minister bit, I aint interrested-they could change the PM 4 times a year & I wouldnt know ny different! lol!

As for who is PM, yeah whatever, they are all as bad as each other

I was quite shocked by that too, been through those doors many a time, hubbys family live in scotland, the last year we have driven up there and i think we will carry on driving now.

My oldest daughter goes on holiday and flies out on the 9th, so im a little concerned at the moment, she is 18 in 2 months is she too old for me to put my foot down and tell her she cant go?, will just have to hope it all calms down

All I can really say is the security has been stepped up to an unbelievable level so I'm sure she'll be safe-there's a lot of professionals out there trying to make sure of it! the land rover at the airport seemed to be more of a warning than an attack, if they meant to hurt people then people would have been hurt (and not just the a*seh*le that was driving the car!)

When she went away last august something had happened, i think it was at heathrow and all airports were put on high security alert, and i remember telling her that its probably one of the safest times to fly cos security was so hot then, and checking everyone and everything, but it still doesnt stop u worrying.

You wouldnt be human if you didnt worry! I'll be honest tho, she's probably got it in the back of her mind too, so you keeping it up that you think its safer because of the extra security would probably ease her nerves about going.

I agree that right now it's very safe to fly. Security has stepped up everywhere, planes and trains. I think she'll be ok to travel. We can't let them get the better of us anyway!!

I wasn't to botherd about the new PM either, just thought I'd mention it coz I was mentioning everything else that happened this week.
