Disability buggy drives onto M27
A 90-year-old man was found driving along the hard shoulder of the M27 motorway in a motorised disability buggy.
The BBC reports the man had left his home near Southampton to go shopping at the Whiteley Shopping Village. After leaving the shopping centre he became confused, drove down the westbound slip road onto the M27, and felt he could not turn back. The man was rescued by police after being shadowed by a passing 4x4 that had driven slowly beside him. Police said by the time they caught up with the man he was in an extremely confused state. They estimated he was on the M27 for about half an hour. The police called for a pick-up truck to remove the buggy from the motorway safely. They said it was unclear at this stage whether any charges would be brought against him. A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "He's made it perfectly clear it wasn't intentional. He didn't set out to go onto the M27." Oops  | ||||||||

Typical person from Southampton! Oh dear, I didnt realise that was a motorway!! How can you get confused from going from a shopping centre to the M27!?!!

That just supports my theory that people over 70 should be retested and the majority need their license removing from their possession.
There is a guy next door but one to us, and he has nearly driven into me a number of times at local junctions. You can even wave at him as you drive down the street and he doesn't see you.. I call him Blind Eddy, and if I see him leave in his car and I need to go out, I wait. My last encounter with him at the local traffic lights left me shaking! MadCat | ||||||||
