Does anyone have any tips to calm down a hyperactive kitten. The last few nights I've hardly slept! If I shut her out the bedroom she scratches the door until I let her in, and once she's in, spends all night climbing the furniture, chewing shoes and finding small objects to play with. I've never known a kitten so hyper.

I'm afraid to say, but it's normal behaviour for a cat to be nocturnal. They hunt mainly at night. So your kitten is showing natural behaviour.
It may be worse as she is not used to being shut away this may be making it worse. When we don't lock Jack up at night in his room, he is also hyper. Why does he play with his heavy ball up and down the stairs in the middle of the night!!!! Hope that this helps.... MadCat Oh, also you may be able to placate her a bit by placing one of those microwave heat packs (NOT a hot water bottle as they can pop them and burn themselves) under her bed to draw her to the warmth and calm her down.... | ||||||||

We had a similar problem with our kittens, as I used to shut them out of the bedroom at night they used to make a load of noise, in the end I brought there baskets upstairs and put them on the landing outside the bedroom door along with a few choice toys (ones that don't rattle!) and that seemed to quieten them down.

Solved the problem by buying an automatic feeder so now she gets fed at midnight and 4am without me getting woken up to do it. Fantastic!
