Default "Home-made toys"

Do cats "purr-fur" (very bad pun!!) home-made toys than the ones you can buy in shops, or is it our two!?

One thing they go mad for more than all the expensive toys you buy them are the 'freezer bag ties", cut off a length about 3 inches (7.5cm) and wrap it into a loop and tie the ends around each other. It flies quite a long way and they love chasing it.

It has made our two cats into 'decent' goalies as if they are in the mood the cat has jumped 3 or 4 foot in the air and caught it or deflected it to stop it going past her. Perhaps I should be an agent and see if any clubs are interested in the New Cat!! (Wasnt the original 'Cat' Peter Bonnetti??)

Another thing they love is the fold-up laundry baskets you can buy in those £1 shops (surprisingly for a £1!!!) and it seems they cant see the netted mesh as they attacke anything placed on top or around it, and if you put the loop thing I was talking about above on the floor and put an upturned laundry basket over it it truly perplexes them!!

However, if you were to purchase one I dont recommend you thinking it would then be a good idea to use for your laundry!!!

Jack loves card board boxes, plastic bags and any elastic bands he can find (very dangerous for cats).

I think that home made toys are the best....

cats love them, and you get the enjoyment of watching them play with something you made!

I like rolling my own cigarettes. I use the large rizla papers and I cut a strip off the edge of 2 pieces of paper. I lay them over at rigth angles to form a cross and then twist the bottom where the papers overlay. It forms a sort of little helicopter. Throw it in the air and it flutters down. Jack loves jumping for them and chasing them around our front room, although they make a mess when he catches and shreds it!

Also the plastic laundry baskets, he loves playing with anything in these... upside down with the cat inside, it also doubles as a holding area if they are doing your head in!!!
