Did anyone out there with cats know that the flower Lilly are poisonous to cats.
I didn't know this and heard it on the TV show This Morning and I asked my vet about it. Apparently the leaves are really toxic to cats. Eating only one leaf could be enough to kill them. The only thing you can do for your cat if they eat one is to make it vomit instantly, feed it charcoal and hope for the best.... Thought I would let people know as I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable on cats and I never knew this... MadCat

We are also bird lovers, but Jack just seems to watch birds... During baby bird times and fledging times we keep him inside though, just in case.
He tends to just play with birds and mice rather than kill them. I am always the one who has to go and catch them in the garden and set them free... I get all the nice jobs.... Mice are cute though, I always have a little stroke and play with them before I let them go. They are always shaking after Jack's games and I don't want them to die from shock so I give them a little cuddle until they stop shaking and calm down a bit... I think some cats are more prone to eating Lillies than others. If your neighbours cats haven't bothered with your plants in the past I wouldn't worry too much. MadCat

That's nice.
I used to love mice and hamsters and the like years ago. Now for some reason I find I;m a bit sqeamish when it comes to touching them. I dont know why as I always had them as pets when I was a child and my daughters always had hamsters, rabbits etc. My neighbours cats sometimes leave me little gifts on the back step, of birds or frogs or mice. Unfortunately they're usually dead, but that's nature I guess. So far none of them have touched the lillies thank goodness. Maybe cause they'r ein a tub. They do dig up my bulbs though |

Jack started digging up my plants about a month and a bit ago. I talked to my vet and we tried a Feliway, which de-stresses cats. It has worked though and my flowers are now safe!!!
I must admit I love mice. Their fur is so soft. I'm nearly reduced to tears when Jack harms one... I'm a softie at heart! MadCat

I think this relates mainly to the cut flowers that you have in the house, rather than water lillies.

I love lillies and often have them in my house, but Jack ignores them.
This fact was told me by my vet, but was also in this months Cat magazine. They are highly poisonous to cats, as is chocolate. MadCat
