why is Siliconhell called Siliconhell?

References to Siliconhell & Siliconheaven actually started in Series IV "The Last Day" when Kryten's replacement, Hudzen, arrives. Lister actually asks about Siliconhell in the episode.

"No Silicon heaven??? Preposterous!!! Where would all the calculators go???"

Siliconhell is where all of the bad electronic devices go. The ones that fail.

MadCat and I own the domain and are responsible for the design and content. We do of course get great contributions from our Special Members, in particular Surkdidat, TheGuru and Benny have helped us out with loads of behind the scenes stuff

I'd also like to add that despite the many hours that we have committed to the site we do not make any profit from Siliconhell. The hosting fees far out weigh the pittance that we receive from the various adverts throughout the site. I'd therefore like to ask everybody to take a minute to look at the various adverts, hopefully you will see something of interest, and, go and visit one of the many vendors.
