I think it's actually cheaper to Fly to South Africa and stay at the Kruger National Park...
A 4 - 6 sleeper Chalet is +- R650-00/night (that's for the chalet, not per person)... That works out to +-£43.00/night for everyone... doesn't include food but then, in true african tradition, you'd have a camp fire and a BBQ most nights... A Game Drive is around R500-00/person(+-£33.00/person) and entrance to the Park itself is +- R100-00/person(£7.00/person) for your entire visit (so if you stayed 6 nights, you'd only pay the entrance fee once)... the only expensive part would be the Air Fare which is around £500-00/person return...
I know your other half doesn't like to fly tho

BUT you can still get a Ship from Southhampton to Cape Town or Durban... bit pricey that tho
