Coming from a Republic I can't really comment on this.
The last two Presidents here in Ireland have been Women and were voted to serve two terms each.
Mary Robinson was the first ever woman to be voted President of Ireland and Mary McAleese is now in her second term as President. Both have done a wonderful job representing our country abroad.
Mary Robinson went on to be the Human Rights Commissioners for the United Nations and served in that position for five years.
