I had to laugh at this because it reminded me of my sister. One haloween she sprayed her hair black with a can of spray dye. We were indoors at a disco but she got hot and started to sweat. like in your story it began to run down her face.
The thing with my sister is that her natural hair colour is ginger so although most of her hair was still black there were a few orange bits showing
