Rats don't live that long - only 2-3 years.

He was kept in a cage while we were at work and was let out each evening to run along the wall (arch over the fire was his bridge) they would often be seen nose to nose - Tabatha (our cat) never tried to bite. Mr Rat also loved to jump over to me as I sat watching TV and curl up around my neck to fall asleep - he used to even sit on my shoulder as i took him for a walk to the local shop (pet shop) honest. You can get harnesses for them as well. The same as you would for a ferret

This rat is still fat too timid - Fidget seems to think that the rat is a new squeak toy
