An American politician is challenging the US legal system - by suing God.
Senator Ernie Chambers accuses the Almighty of causing "death, destruction and terror" on a massive scale, reports the Nebraska State Paper.
And he is seeking a permanent injunction to prevent him moving in such mysterious ways in future.
Chambers filed the tongue-in-cheek lawsuit in Omaha, Nebraska, to show that a lawsuit may be filed over anything, against anyone.
He was annoyed by a case filed in federal court over rulings by a state judge who ruled that some words could not be used by witnesses in a sexual assault case.
He added: "People might call it frivolous but I am trying to raise some very serious issues."
Referring to the Bible, he said God had admitted "the causing of calamitous catastrophes resulting in the widespread death, destruction and terrorisation of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants".
These included ""fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects, and the like".
He says he tried in vain to serve notice on the "defendant" by shouting: "Come out, come out wherever you are."
Chambers says that since God is everywhere, he comes under the court's jurisdiction and must know about the case against him.
